I got involved with Purchase’s online-only student publication immediately as a freshman, and by sophomore year I was managing editor. I didn’t finish my undergraduate studies at Purchase, but I got my start as a journalist there.

Campus Disaster Coverage

At the start of the fall 2017 semester, a kitchen fire started in one of the on-campus student apartment complexes that resulted in a building burning down. I was a frontrunner in covering the fire’s aftermath.

“Reclaiming Mary Lou”

I struck up a conversation with Mary Lou Ward in the library my freshman year. The more we talked, the more I felt compelled to tell her story. I spent hours talking with the 74-year-old liberal studies student that semester and ended up turning those conversations into a three-part story series.
